Our curriculum is changing this year. There is a big focus on explaining how the student arrives at an answer, not just the answer.  We will be working on different approaches to solve mathematical problems. Homework may look different than what you are use to. Each child will be keeping a Math notebook (marble composition notebook) in which they will have class notes, vocabulary, examples, as well as problems that they will be solving in class. This notebook will serve as a resource for students to study from, and to use a reference in solving their homework. Their homework should be done on notebook paper and should be kept in their binder.

AM class: We hope to finish up and test on dividing fractions by Wednesday, April 17th.

Both Classes: Keeping Skills Sharp test should be on Friday, April 19.

 PM Class:

We are working on adding and subtracting mixed numbers. We will then move into multiplying ad divinding fractions.  We need to move at a good pace due to the fact we still have quit a bit to cover before the EOG test. Please help by checking homework nightly and helping to make sure they understand the concept.  Fractions are the largest part of our curriculum this year. They will make up 50% or our EOG test. Please help them each night to make sure they are understanding what we are doing in class. This will help us to move along at a better pace in class.

Please use the Math notebook to look for examples of how we are solving. It is not helpful for them to practice homework using a different method than what we are working on.
