Student Reassignments The Board of Education of the Johnston County Schools has the authority to assign any student from one school facility or classroom to another within attendance areas. This authority shall be delegated to the Superintendent of Schools or his designee. If a parent would like to reassign a student to another school outside of their home district, they should follow the student reassignment process. The process starts at the requested school. Student reassignment forms are on hand at all schools but are not available online. The reassignment form must be completed in its entirety and returned to the principal of the requested school. The principal will review the form, sign it, and forward it to the Deputy Superintendent who will make the decision to approve or deny the request. If the the decision is made to approve the request, the parent copy will be sent by regular mail. If the request is denied, the parent copy will be sent by certified mail to the parent. Appeals may be made in writing to the Deputy Superintendent. Appeal letters may be faxed to 934-1114 or sent by mail to P. O. Box 1336, Smithfield, NC 27577. For more information please see Policy Code 4100. No person shall be assigned or reassigned, refused admission to, or be excluded from any public school on the basis of race, creed, color, or national origin.
