Free Choice
Students read self-selected books on their  reading level.  While reading, students use stickie notes to show evidence of active reading strategies.

Students read appropriately leveled books with a buddy.  After each page, they use questioning rings to quiz eachother and ensure comprehension.

Students complete vocabulary activities such as a minidictionary or a word web.

Students write a journal response to high-interest photographs.

They also write a reflection letter or blog each week to share their reading.

If students complete all their required D5 work for the week, they have the opportunity to go to the free choice menu to continue extending their knowledge.
