JOB SHADOWING

Shadowing is a career exploration tool that can be used by all students in high school. You can learn more about jobs that fit your interest and skills by job shadowing, where you follow a person doing a particular job for a day.  It gives you a real feel for what the day-to-day work is like in a particular profession or job.  It also lets you experience the work environment firsthand, which helps you figure out if you’d like to work in that particular setting all of the time.  The website www.jobshadow.org  is a resource that gives tips to help you get the most of your job-shadowing experiences.  VirtualJobShadow.com is another helpful career exploration tool. It provides a behind-the-scenes look at life on the job through video streaming technology.  The site also has a mentoring component that allows users to ask questions and seek advice directly from professionals.
