Every year, BILLIONS of drink pouches end up in dumpsters and landfills across America. TerraCycle, Capri Sun® and Honest Kids® are working together to put an end to this awful loss of resources. As an eco-friendly innovator, TerraCycle converts the drink pouch material into innovative products from tote bags and pencil cases to plastic lumber and pavers! TerraCycle is proud to team up with the largest producer of drink pouches in the country, Capri Sun, and a young organic entry into the market, Honest Kids, to help address this problem! Together with your help we CAN make a difference!

The TerraCycle Drink Pouch Brigade program allows our school to save drink pouches from taking up space in landfills. For each juice pouch received, we will be awarded two TerraCycle points which can be redeemed $0.02 to the Green Kids Club at Powhatan Elementary.  Last year we raised over $750 and kept about 300 pounds of trash (all juice pouches) from taking up space in our landfills.

Be sure to collect any juice pouches you use or see (sports practices/games, preschools, afterschool care, parties, church events, etc).  You don't need to rinse them out ahead of time.  Just get as much juice out of them, remove the straw and put them all in a plastic ziploc baggie with your child's teacher's name on it.  We are tracking class contributions on a bulletin board by the cafeteria so be sure to check out how your child's class is doing.
