Classified staff have a significant and direct effect on the success of our students. Whether it be teacher assistants, custodians, office support, transportation, facility services, or child nutrition, the classified staff of Johnston County Schools help assure that our students and staff are supported in every way.

All employees must have earned a high school diploma or GED from institutions that are regionally or nationally accredited. In addition, most school-based classified staff are combination employees. This means that in addition to their other duties, they must be willing to drive a school bus when called upon to do so. Therefore, in order to be considered for employment in any role which requires driving a school bus, candidates must meet DMV standards for obtaining a Commercial Driver's License with school bus certification. Such employees are also subject to random drug and alcohol testing, as required by the Federal government.

The Johnston County Public School system does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, sex, color, religion, national origin, citizenship status, age, or handicap in any of its educational or employment programs or activities .
